Dominica and Cuba Celebrate 30 Years of Diplomatic Relations Amid Ongoing Cooperation
The Commonwealth of Dominica and the Republic of Cuba are celebrating 30 years of bilateral relations this year.
Cuban Ambassador to Dominica, His Excellency Miguel Fraga, says more than 400 Dominican students have graduated from Cuban universities through decades of cooperation between the two nations.
Speaking on DBS Radio’s Talking Point programme this morning, Ambassador Fraga noted that the partnership between Dominica and Cuba extends beyond formal diplomatic ties, encompassing collaboration in education, healthcare, and national development.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Fraga also addressed the current economic difficulties facing Cuba, attributing many of the challenges to longstanding United States sanctions imposed on the country for more than six decades.
He explained that recent restrictions have intensified fuel shortages, significantly affecting electricity production and resulting in widespread power outages across the island, including disruptions to essential services.
