Police have reported that 45-year-old Mackie McKenzie of River Street died in a traffic accident on Monday afternoon near the Louisville junction.

Police have reported that 45-year-old Mackie McKenzie of River Street died in a traffic accident on Monday afternoon near the Louisville junction.

The accident involved a motorcycle scooter operated by the deceased. His pillion rider, Shaquille Hector, was nursing injuries at the Dominica /China Friendship Hospital.

The incident occurred while a Mitsubishi FUSO Fighter was travelling in an easterly direction on Valley Road in the vicinity of the Louisville junction. The motorcycle was being ridden in a westerly direction. Police say the motorcycle ran off the road after trying to avoid the truck and collided with a curb. 

The impact threw the occupants of the motorcycle onto the southern side of the road.

Both occupants were transported to the Dominica /China hospital. Shortly after, Mackie McKenzie was pronounced dead.

Police continue their investigation into the road fatality.
