Dominica Activates Emergency Response After Severe Weather; Schools Closed in Affected East and Northeast Communities
Roseau, Dominica – April 27, 2026: The Government of Dominica has activated a coordinated national response following heavy rainfall, flooding and landslides caused by a trough system that affected the island on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
The most severe impacts were reported in the East and Northeast, prompting an emergency Cabinet meeting on Sunday evening.

There will also be no school for the students of the Lighthouse Christian Academy.
Durand-Smith further indicated that utility restoration and monitoring continues.
She also reported that a number of households have been compromised following assessments in the Atkinson area.
