The Ministry of Agriculture reports that farmers incurred a loss of approximately 2 million dollars due to the trough system on April 26
The Ministry of Agriculture has announced that the loss to farmers in eastern communities, as a result of the April 26 trough system was in the region of two million dollars.
The Ministry estimated that 276 farmers were affected.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Ryan Anselm, says the Government is implementing an agriculture livelihood restoration program in response to the damage caused by the trough system.

He says over the past weeks, seeds, seedlings, fertiliser, and tools have been distributed to affected farmers. He says the Ministry of Agriculture and the Chinese technical mission have distributed a large portion of the fertiliser
He added that cash grant support will be made available to farmers.
