Minister for National Security Rayburn Blackmoore has called for the Dominica Bar Association to retract its statement accusing him of interference in judicial independence.

The statement by the Dominica Bar Association came after Mr. Blackmoore said he is opposing a decision by the High Court to grant bail to double murder accused Johnathan Lehrer.

Mr. Blackmoore says he was shocked by the response from the Dominica Bar Association.

The National Security Minister has asked the Dominica Bar Association to look closely at the law on judicial independence.

He says there was nothing wrong with the statements on bail granted to Johnathan Lehrer.
