President Burton Calls for United National Action Against Non-Communicable Diseases
President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton, has renewed calls for a united national effort to combat the growing threat of non-communicable diseases, warning that conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer and obesity continue to pose serious risks to the country’s health and development.
Addressing Parliament this morning, President Burton described the figures between 2020 and 2025 as deeply concerning and stressed that prevention must become a national priority.

The President emphasized that tackling non-communicable diseases is not solely the responsibility of the health sector, but requires the collective efforts of families, schools, workplaces, faith-based organizations and communities.
