Dominica’s coconut industry is facing a serious threat from the emergence of a new disease on the island.
The Ministry of Agriculture raised concerns about the presence of the Lethal Yellowing Disease in the Woodford Hill area, which impacts coconut crops.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Ryan Anslem, speaking on a special program on DBS Radio this morning, says the ministry has started mobilising teams and departments to bring this disease under control.
Anslem also made an appeal to the residents of Woodford Hill to assist in the ministry’s effort to curtail the spread of this disease.
