The Government of Dominica will begin commissioning its 10-megawatt geothermal power plant in December 2025, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transition to cleaner, more resilient energy.
The update came from Finance Minister Dr. Irving McIntyre as he presented a motion for supplementary estimates totaling over $108.5 million in Parliament this morning.
According to Dr. McIntyre, commercial operations are projected to start in the first week of March 2026, positioning the facility as a key component in reducing energy costs and strengthening Dominica’s renewable energy infrastructure.
The geothermal development is expected to play a central role in Dominica’s vision of becoming the first climate-resilient nation powered by sustainable energy.
