Chief Executive Officer of the Dominica Hospital Authority, Dr Kenneth Darroux, has called for compassion among practitioners in the primary health care system.
His comments came during a health symposium and awards ceremony at the Dominica/ China friendship auditorium on Thursday, April 16, 2026, to mark Primary Health Care Week held in honour of the late Dr Carissa Etienne.

Meantime, former Health Minister Dr Kenneth Darroux, former coordinator of the HIV/AIDS program Julie Frampton and family nurse practitioner Vetlyn Vigilante were among 15 health practitioners who were honoured this morning
Among the awardees were retired nurse practitioner Patsy Thomas, retired nurse midwife Bernadette Rabess Sanderson, registered nurse midwife Daisey James, Public Health Nurse Veronica Cuffy, and Community Health Aid Ernestine Nora Francis, for three decades of service.
