Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has revealed that Dominica will continue its longstanding medical cooperation program with Cuba, despite some Caribbean nations recently discontinuing similar arrangements.
Several countries in the region, including Antigua and Barbuda and Jamaica, have announced the end of their Cuban medical programs. However, Prime Minister Skerrit says Dominica has decided to maintain the partnership.
According to the Prime Minister, while there have been some adjustments in the way Cuban medical practitioners are engaged, the country will continue to benefit from their services within the healthcare system.
He emphasized that the contribution of Cuban medical professionals remains important to the delivery of healthcare services to the Dominican people.

Meanwhile, Cuban graduate, Dr. Damien Dublin has welcomed the government’s decision to maintain the Dominica–Cuba medical program.
Dr. Dublin says the collaboration has played a significant role in strengthening healthcare capacity in Dominica and continues to build strong professional and educational links between the two countries.
