The Dominican Parliament has passed a motion to exempt Value Added Tax (VAT) on 26 items.
Minister for Finance Dr Irving McIntyre, while introducing the amendment in Parliament, says this is part of measures aimed at reducing the financial burden on local consumers.
He says there will be no import duties on any of these items following the amendment to the Value Added Tax Act.

Meantime, Minister for Trade Dr. Vince Henderson encourages local importers to buy more CARICOM products.
