Minister for Health, Wellness and Social Services, Cassani Laville, has issued a strong appeal for increased road safety following a series of serious traffic accidents in Dominica over the weekend that resulted in three fatalities.

On Friday night, a road collision near the Lyndhurst Funeral Home at Rockaway, Canefield, claimed the lives of Roshane Bent, a Jamaican national, and Christian Green, a Dominican national who resided in New York. Both individuals succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

A day later, 62-year-old Victor Jno Baptiste of Morne Rachette died after the Suzuki Escudo jeep in which he was traveling flipped over in the vicinity of the GELL LEON area in Coulibistrie.

Minister Laville described the incidents as tragic and deeply concerning, noting that they serve as a stark reminder of the dangers on the nation’s roads.

He urged motorists, motorcyclists, pedestrians and passengers to exercise greater caution, particularly during the busy carnival period, and to adhere strictly to traffic laws and safety practices.

Minister Laville also commended the dedication of first responders.

The Health Minister extended condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and called on all citizens to work together to prevent further loss of life on Dominica’s roads.
