Dominica’s Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, says the emergence of geothermal energy will lead to an immediate reduction in the cost of electricity rates for Dominicans.
A geothermal energy plant being constructed in the Roseau Valley is set to be commissioned in the month of April.

Meantime, Minister for Energy Dr Vince Henderson has defended the actions taken to protect the environment during development of a 1O kilowatt geothermal power plant in Laudat.
The plant is due to be commissioned next month.

He says the investment into the facility has been substantial, and added that Dominica received support from many partners to explore geothermal energy.
