Dominican families who received keys for new homes on Thursday are expressing gratitude

Dominican families who received keys for new homes on Thursday have expressed gratitude to the Government of Dominica, World Bank and European Development Fund.

Keys were presented to 60 families during a ceremony at the State House Conference Centre.

Meantime Minister for Housing and Urban Development Melissa Poponne Skerrit say the Housing Recovery Project for Dominica goes beyond rebuilding homes.

She says the beneficiaries are land owners who lost their homes during the passage of Hurricane Maria.

Mrs. Skerrit says they are at 83 percent of their target figure under the Housing Recovery Project.

Minister for Finance Dr. Irving McIntyre, says yesterday’s handing over ceremony marks a significant milestone in the journey to provide modern housing to the country’s citizens.

Dr. McIntyre represented Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit at yesterday’s ceremony.
