CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, NY, Mon. Feb. 15, 2010: Haitian-born celebrity manicurist Myrdith Leon-McCormack is still looking for family members lost in the aftermath of the earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12, 2010.
Having been in the beauty industry for over 18 years, Leon-McCormack is well known for her talent and her kind spirit. Born in Haiti and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Leon-McCormack was always taught to pay careful attention to detail, specifically how it related to hair, make-up, and nail care. In 1991, she translated this passion into a job as a manicurist.
Throughout her many years in the industry, Leon-McCormack has worked on shoots with top publications including GQ Magazine, Elle and Harper s Bazaar and with celebrities ranging from Charlize Theron to Missy Elliot to Mary-Kate Olsen.
Additionally, Myrdith has completed campaigns with brands such as MAC Cosmetics and Sephora.
In an effort to raise awareness and funds to aid Haiti, Leon-McCormack will host a charity event during New York Fashion Week, bringing members of the beauty and fashion industries together to make a difference and to focus on the togetherness of everyone to show their love and support for one of their own, for human kind and ultimately, for Haiti.
The private event will take place at Melange Salon at The Peninsula on February 16th from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M.
The suite will feature a manicure station with manicures from Myrdith s team of nail artists, a hair station with styling from celebrity hair artist Dante Bladshaw of Warren-Tricomi Artist Management, and a makeup station with make up by celebrity make up artist AJ Crimson. There will also be a silent auction featuring fashion and beauty products from the sponsors.
